What A Bully

Day four of the sick child.  Still has a fever.  Has quit vomiting, but now is a snot monster.  He's nasty and has an attitude.  God help me.

*********************************

You know those playground bullies, the ones that steal your milk money?  Yeah, we've got one of those around here:

2010_09090003

This was taken right before he ran her off from the food.  He's also the one that blocks the entrance to the potty when she has to go.  Oh, and he blocks it when she's trying to get out of the box too.  What a bully.

Easter Decorations

We've completed the final decorations for Easter.   What do you think of them?

You wouldn't believe how long he left that egg up on top of his head, at least 10 minutes.  The cat decorator thought this was fabulous fun:

The photographer snuck in a Toe Floof pic, just for herself:

I'm off to the lake for Spring Break & Easter.  Posting may be sporadic at best next weekend due to poor internet connections and speed there.

Have a great Easter everybody!

Amateur Photography and Lace Scarves

Last night The Eldest was working on a photography lesson for Cub Scouts.  Not to be outdone, The Youngest had to take some pics too.  This is what happens when a four year old takes a photo:

Of Himself

And of a cat:

But wait!  I bet you missed the cool part of the cat photo.  Let's zoom in a little closer (I didn't say clearer, I said closer):
Did ya catch it that time?  He caught the cat in mid-yawn.   Cool.   That cat's got a really big mouth.  I guess it goes well with the rest of him too, all 16 pounds of him!

******

I finally finished my Queen Anne's Lace Scarf!  I did it in two sessions.  Unfortunately, I put it down for about two weeks in between sessions.  But it's finally done:

Here's a closeup:
This is destined to become a gift in the future for my Sister In Law.  The greens will look fabulous next to her red hair.

Potted Kitty

I'm afraid my green thumb doesn't extend to kitty gardening. Are they annuals? Perennials? If they re-seed themselves, will I have a porch full of kittens? How much sunlight do they need?  Do they need to be moved indoors at the first freeze?  Are they herbs, weeds or wildflowers?

Proof That It's Cold

I'm freezing.  It's been freaking cold here, especially for us here in Georgia.  I don't like cold.  I'm standing by my statement that I'm allergic to the cold weather. I can't feel my fingers, toes, nose or behind.  I want heat.  I want my summer back.  This is why I never go on vacation to cold climates.  My sister in law goes snow skiing and calls it fun.  Phooey.  I'll go snow skiing when and if it's of absolute necessity and I can survive no other way.

Wanna know who else has been cold?

I set a blanket on the floor beside a space heater for our 17.5 year old dog.  She was so pitiful and I wanted to baby her.  Look at the crowd that showed up:

This is absolutely amazing.  Let me tell you why:

Yellow cat -doesn't like the other three animals
Brown cat -doesn't like the other three animals
Black dog - doesn't like the cats, barely tolerates little brown dog
Brown dog - Loves everybody but is at the bottom of the totem pole

And lastly:  that blanket was only 2 foot x 3 foot in size.

How about a close up of the part of the picture that had our jaws gaping wide:

If you only knew how many fights I've had to break up over the years with these two.  They hate each other.  They've even divided the house up into territories in order to avoid each other and woe be the one who crosses into the wrong territory!

Truly, hell hath frozen over!

What a Cat's Scarf Style Says About Her

The Daily Mail over in England had an article today about what a man's scarf style tells about him.    I thought I would do something similar to show you the completed Old Shale Scarf, but with a Cat.  That's Female.  And named Widget.

First off, is the Old School Look:

What this says on a cat?  Please God, let this fall off of me and we'll pretend this never happened.

Next up, The Snuggler:

What this says on a cat?   Don't hate me because I'm beautiful.  Hate me because I'm superior to you in every way.

The next in line, The Undercover Agent.

What this says on a cat?  This one's not working.  The dangly bit was on top of my head, hiding my identity, but it fell off and now I look like a dork.  But this look is fabulous for elongating the body!  Dear God, am I one cat or two?

And last, but not least, The Artiste.

Or maybe not.

What this says on a cat?  I've had enough of the fashion modeling.  F-*bleep* off!

Widget did, however, like the tail that I forgot to weave in though.

It got the big dew claw up!  As opposed to the thumbs up.  that is.  Umm, please ignore the random blurry finger in the last shot.  Obviously the camera woman sucks at taking photos.

*Many thanks to Felicity Cloake for providing today's inspiration!

Dumb Cat

Check out where our outside kitty decided to take a cat nap - the left front tire on the Mom van:

She's not the smartest kitty on the block.

Tubey progress

Hey, check out the new background on the blog! What do ya think? Yay or nay? All comments are most welcome!

The Tubey sweater has finally turned from looking like a scarf towards looking more like a sweater. The yellow oval has been placed in the photo to denote the neckline to help you visualize it a bit better. Technically it should have been a half circle, but flickr only lets me do so much.

Today the kitties decided not to share sunbeams, but they're still ignoring each other.

Reluctantly Sharing

This is a rarity in my world - The two indoor kitties sharing a sunbeam. Notice how they sit with their backs to each other? Yeah, no love lost here. He's (the yellow cat and 16 lbs.) taking a bath and she's (10 lb. if she's wet brown kitty) very prim and proper and ignoring the hell out of him. They share like my kids share, very poorly.

I've started on one of the sleeves of the shrug part of the sweater and I'm doing this part with two circs. It's moving along pretty steadily so far.

We're off tonight to the Fall Festival at the Eldest's school tonight. I'm just hoping we don't lose the Youngest in the crowds there. He's a runner and refuses to hear anyone telling him to stop. It kinda sucks that he's too old to be in a stroller now. Oh well, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right? :)

Forgot to Add: Contest results will be here tomorrow!

Part of my insane household

I live in an insane household.

I have a two year old (who has blood sugar issues) that I cannot get to eat and who turns into a raving lunatic when when he doesn't. I also have a bizarre cat that suffers from bulimia (sp?) and tries to eat all the puppy food before the puppy can get to it then promptly throws it back up.

I finally moved the bowl next to my desk so that I could guard the bowl. The other dogs want her food too. I swear they circle like a school of sharks. It's quite amusing as none of them like each other.

Here's Widget sitting there staring at the bowl and waiting for me to turn my back. You'll note the obligatory Hot Wheels car. I'm thinking that my kids just might be on the Hot Wheels product placement payroll since one seems to show up in almost every pic I take around here.

Does your cat do this? How do they breathe like this? It can't be comfortable can it?

Hi, I'm Tiger and I'm a Garfield Wannabe.

Supervisor Widget

Yikes! Father of knitters, forgive me for I have sinned. It's been three days since I've blogged again.

Okay, enough of that. I have a finished object to show you, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow. It's in the blocking stages right now and it's so cute! It's the baby kimono from Mason Dixon Knitting and it turned out perfect.

Now don't go gettin' any ideas. It's not for me. Nope, no bun in the oven here and if my hubby don't quit tickin' me off there won't even be any practicing for a blessed event either, thank you very much! Anyway, I'll have a pic. for you later (pics of the sweater - get your mind out of the gutter).

For now, here's a pic of Supervisor Widget as she sits on the desk above me as I type:

Dad doesn't need his wifi router working as much as I need a place to sleep!

Kitty Bulimia

Have I told you about my kitty, Widget, that suffers from Bulimia? I think she's worried about her weight. Seriously. She rushes to the kitty bowl, eats like there's no tomorrow (daintiness be damned) and will then purge for all she's worth. Not immediately of course. She waits 'til we're not looking then finds interesting places for her, ahem, purging.

My hubby's favorite place for her to purge is the dog's water bowl. He sounds like a sailor everytime it happens. This is not a bowl per say, it's one of those bowls that has a giant bottle that looks like it belongs on the water cooler at work. So, it ain't easy to clean.

One of the others is our taupe colored carpet. She purges, then let's it lie in wait til it's allover cold and squishy. She then finds a good vantage point and waits til the stupid humans step in it in their bare feet. Yecch!

Well, a girl's gotta look after her figure somehow. Did I tell you she also likes practical jokes?

Don't look now, but your toe's an inch away from my latest joke.

Mother's day and cat beds

Happy Mother's Day!

Mine's been great. I got to sleep late (always a huge plus), at least til 8:30. The main reason? The baby slept til 8:30, which never, ever happens. Then we went to the in-laws and had a fantabulous dinner; filet mignon, basil grape tomatoes, creamed spinach, twice baked potatoes and to top it off was the most wonderful cheesecake I've ever had in my life. I was bad and had two huge pieces of the cheesecake and I'll be paying for that for the next month.

I finished the silly socks! Yeah! I also got in some time with the stole. I have until June 22nd (my mom's bday) to get that done.

Silly socks on the Silly boy's feet.

I know that most people have fancy cat tents or home-made cat beds, but really, why have those when you can have something that is obnoxious, doesn't match any other furniture, and takes up a quarter of the living room floor?

Cat day!

Today is cat day. It seems our household has acquired a porch kitty. She showed up a couple of weeks ago and never went away. I made the stupid mistake of giving her some food cause I felt sorry for her and she took up roost. Pros: No more mole infestation in the yard. They make awesome cat toys that fly up high in the sky and bounce when they land. cruel, I know, but true. My hubby had to go out and lay one to rest this morning at around 6:45ish. He was not happy. She's also camouflaged. She lays in the leaves and mulch and blends right in. Cons: one more mouth to feed. May end up with many mouths to feed. Think we need to find her a new home. Here's a couple of pics of her. Check out the first lucky shot. I caught her with her tongue hanging out.

mleh! so there!

Can't see me, I'm blending in with the concrete.

This is Tiger, our blockhead. He hates for you to mess with him. Loves to be petted, not messed with. I'm not sure what he was on last night, but he let me pile blocks all down his back and then on top of his head!
I feel so humiliated - look what she did to me!

On the knitting front, I'm almost done with the first sock! Updates to come.

Note to self...

****Note to self: Next time you wash a sink with commercial cleaners - do it with gloves! ****
I have a really bad infected hangnail and it soooooo smarts now. Nobody said I are smart.

On a much lighter note, the toothfairy came to visit my eldest for the first time! I told him that if he kept his tongue out of the new hole that he would grow a new gold tooth. Of course, like any other child that has ever heard that old wives' tale, that little tongue darted right in there lickety-split! The next morning, eldest woke me up (before my clock went off, which really doesn't make nightowl mommy happy in the mornings) to tell me that the toothfairy brought him a wicked new one dollar gold coin!

Man, I wish I was that young again. Well, maybe just sometimes, make that rarely, well, nevermind. I'm glad I'm not that young anymore. I would never want to go through the many, many years of ugly duckling stage that I went through. First grade through the beginning of college is a long, miserable, self-esteem undermining time to go through.

Look Mom! No tooth! Now I look like I belong here in the south! :)

OOOH! Look! It's getting bigger! Why am I so slow at knitting?

Check out the view from my kitchen's bay window. This is one gargantuan azalea. It's also very stinky, still haven't figured out why it produces such lovely flowers and such an appalling stench. It sits in our backyard right next to a pretty peach tree which smells so much better.

No paparazzi please! I'm too busy feeling superior from the rarefied heights of refrigerator mountain.
