My First Contest!

I'm having my first contest! It's in honor of three things. The First, is (of course) for the New Year, the Second is to make you get over all those checks you're going to mess up when you write '07 instead of '08, and the Third is for you! The All Things Shea blog had its 5000th view during the past week and I want to celebrate!

So let's kick off the new year by having a contest shall we?

Two ways to get a chance to win:

1. Tell me the resolution that you made last night while drinkin' the bubbly stuff that you know you're never gonna keep.
2. Mention of this contest on your blog gets you another chance to win.

What do you get?

2 Skeins of South West Trading Company Bamboo yarn in the color Cobalt. 250 yds/100g per skein.
Contest ends January 15th!

At that time, the entries will be put into a great big knitting bag and The Eldest will draw a random winner. Check back then for the winner. Good Luck!

I'd send these two to you, but I'm afraid you'd just ship them right back to me. :)
Trust me, there's two in that box. Click to enlarge and you'll see.

  1. My resolution? To not have more than three projects on the needles at once. Yeah right, Dianna . . . Although I did manage to get Clean Slate by 2008 done! Anyways, here's the post

  2. Hey, do I get bonus points for clicking on the pic, then sucking up by saying that you have both the cutest kid and the cutest dog ever?

  3. I'm afraid not, knitasaur, but I'll take that try anytime!

  4. That has to be the cutest picture I have seen in a long time...love that look of innocence. Don't worry, I have two boys, I'm not falling for it.
My resolution was to be more organized. Why I made it, I do not know because I know it will never happen. That...and to knit more...the second one should be no problem.
    Happy New Year!

All right, I'll bite. I didn't make any resolutions last night, but I made it at the end of the semester - that's close enough, right?

My resolution was not to put problem sets/essays/applications/projects off to the last minute, but to get them done well ahead of time. For someone who doesn't like pulling all-nighters, I do it way too often. However... I enjoy lazing around far too much to see myself getting this done for real. :(

Oh! And happy New Year! Are you sure that puppy is not eligible for prize winnings? It's adorable!

  7. My resolution is to knit from my stash.

  8. Oh goodness, I made a whole list of things... I am betting that I won't be able to pull off the "read more books than last year" goal. Seriously, what was I thinking...I want to try for baby #2, *and* read more?

    Thanks for the contest!

  9. My resolution is to stay away from the 3 pound bag of pistacio nuts.

  10. Cut back on my diet coke consumption.

  11. I made that resolution too, Knitasaur. No more than 3 WIP, even wrote it on my blog. And I've already broken it. Cast onto a pair of socks yesterday which made my 4th WIP. **sigh** Looks like that one will be more of a guideline than a resolution. Also I talked about it in my blog http://nadinescrafts.blogspot.com/2008/01/resolution-failure.html

  12. I will not, alas, be able to be as healthy as my resolutions would say...

  13. No resolutions for me this year -- but I am going to start some new habits! One is to get to bed by 10 pm if I have any hope of getting up early enough to get to work. That got broken last night, as I was still in the car coming home from knit night at 10 pm.

  14. My only resolution this year was to be a better person and improve on myself where i can. I know this will be a good resolution as i have been doing well and improving on things over the last 2 years. But included in this resolution is : spend less. This is going to be difficult as i have a book, yarn and camping/outdoor gear clothing addiction! They all get used well but still...i must behave and the yarn/book part i just do not see seriously happening! (especially seeing i will start working closer to the yarn stores next month!)

  15. YAY! Congrats on 5000 hits! And on the cute dog. And the cute kid (don't worry - my friend's 2 yr old climbed into my dog's crate, closed the door, and started rolling around on the doggie bed inside. I'm thinking its a phase they all go through).

As for resolutions, I think attempting Fair Isle might be a no-go. We'll see. It's so easy to put off a Fair Isle project in favor of something else. I mean, its just a click and drag on Ravelry, and the dreaded 1st Fair Isle piece is once again at the bottom of the queue!

  16. That's easy - clean up the clutter!

  17. What a sweet photo. Happy New Year. One resolution I think I won't be able to keep in its entirely has nothing to do with knitting.... I promised myself to drink 1 liter extra water per day, but already failed that resolution yesterday... too cold to drink cold water. Ah well...I might change it in tea ;-)

  18. My resolution was pretty similar to Diane's (and linked to the start of the semester rather than the actual new year) - not to procrastinate about homework.

I think I've made this resolution every semester since I got to university. I'm halfway through my fourth year and it hasn't worked yet.

My resolution is to stop buying so much yarn until I've used up what I have. I expect that resolution to last roughly a day or 2 until I see something new I need!

  20. My resolution was that I was going to keep my stash in check?! Already blew that one on a WEBs purchase. Drats!

  21. The puppy is so so cute. I want a kitten soo bad but I work long hours and I just wouldnt feel right leaving it how all day by its self. My ultimate plan is to get a tiny TeaCup Terrier puppy (that looks much like your Roxie) and a kitten at the same time so they can grow together. And they'll be the same height when they're grown. Ahhh:)

Well, its not really a New Years resolution because I made it a few month ago. Its more of a life resolution but I'm hoping to kick it up in '08. I just want to be more informed about what's going on in the world around me. So my plan is to:

    (1) Read more meaning full books/Documentaries (I'm starting with a motivational theme then I'll work me why up to autobiography of people I'd rather watch a Documentary on)

    (2) Watch more news/News shows to be come more Poltically aware (I'm not much of a tv watcher but its more up to date-to the minute- than a newspaper and cheaper, since I'm already paying for cable it.)

where do I start? number 1 is spend less on yarn (but winning is OK)

  25. The resolution I make every year and always fail at is eliminating caffeine from my diet. The longest I've managed is about 2 months, and then the cherry Coke starts whispering tempting words in my ear.

  26. Wow, that is an adorable picture!

I have (once again) made a resolution to stop drinking carbonated drinks. I usually make it about 3 or 4 months before I slip up, so we'll see.

  27. I'm late, but in my defense, I found you because you posted on my blog contest! LOL

Mine is quite boring. I was working on New Year's Eve, so the champagne in my hand was just a half glass that the host of the party handed me. Not enough to make any resolutions that I'd regret. :) (I deal blackjack at parties and this was a NYE party at someone's home.)

  28. One of my resolutions was to knit minimally during the school year because I'm taking organic chemistry. HAH. Come on, when I'm sitting there thinking about whether I want to do problems about reaction mechanisms or whether I want to finish that pair of mitts for my mom, which is going to prevail?! Well, I can at least try.

  29. My resolutions were to finish all UFO's before casting on any new projects. This lasted for about 9 days. Sigh... I'm such an addict.

Hi! I just found your blog through a link in Ravelry. Love your Modesitt corset.

My biggest resolution was not to buy new yarn without a specific project in mind. Unfortunately, it's no longer a question of "I know I won't keep it" so much as "I've already broken it"... but it's not my fault! Really! See, the yarn is being discontinued, and it's on sale! And I'll never be able to get it again! And...

  31. Ok, every year I say I will drink less Diet Coke, but I never succeed. I tell ya that stuff is worse than crack.
